I am a PhD candidate at CIRCLE, but also affiliated with the Department
of Economic History at Lund School of Economics and Management.
My main research interest is in the long-term dynamics of innovation and
economic growth.
I have a special interest in the transition of
companies and industries from being largely imitative to becoming highly
innovative. Quantitative studies of industrial evolution and the
development of indicators for this are also central in my work.
My PhD project is concerning the Swedish pharmaceutical industry’s
development 1935-95. As a part of this, I have also studied the
potential use of trademark statistics as a complement to other
indicators in historical innovation studies.
I have a long
professional background in mobile telecommunications, more recently
heading the group-wide research activities at Mobile Systems
International (MSI), and in advisory roles.
In addition to an MSc
degree in Telecommunication Engineering (Royal Institute of Technology
KTH, Stockholm), I also hold MSc’s in Economics and Economic History
from Stockholm University.
I am involved in CIRCLE Research Area 1, in particular the part concerning "effects of R&D and innovation on growth". My current research is focusing on linkages between inventions, innovations and economic growth in the Swedish pharmaceutical industry during the period 1935-1995. As a part of this, I have also been investigating the potential use of trademark statistics as a complement to other indicators in long-term innovation studies.
