Magnus Nilsson holds a PhD in business administration from the School of Economics and Management at Lund University. He is currently employed as post-doc at CIRCLE. His main areas of interest are [a] inter-organizational networks, particularly with a spatial perspective (e.g. clusters, industrial districts and regional innovation systems); [b] inter-organizational perspectives on strategic management and firm strategy (notably resource dependency and firm-external resource perspectives). Additional areas of interest are economic policy and philosophy of science. Nilsson is currently involved in two major research projects: [1] “Constructing Regional Advantage: Towards State-of-the-Art Regional Innovation System Policies in Europe?” (2007-2010) is financed by the Swedish Research Council and European Science Foundation through the EUROCORES program. The project focuses on creating a better understanding of how the need for regional innovation policies vary between industries based on fundamental differences in knowledge bases. [2] ”Enhancing the innovativeness of food SMEs through the management of strategic network behavior and network learning performance” (2010-2013) is financed by EUs seventh framework program and is planned to begin in the spring of 2010. This project aims to create a better understanding of network learning and performance and of how this differs between diverse types of networks and regions/nations. During 2009 Nilsson is also working on a project funded by Region Skåne (the administrative body of the regional council) that analyzes regional innovation system initiatives and regional economic transformation. He is part of the research group LIFS (Lund International Food Studies) at the Department of Business Administration at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University. Nilsson teaches within the fields of strategy, organization, marketing and philosophy of science at the School of Economics and Management and CIRCLE.
