Jon Mikel Zabala

Jon Mikel Zabala is currently employed as post-doc research at CIRCLE on innovation policy analysis. He is an engineer in industrial organization from the University of Mondragon (2002). He holds a European Ph.D. in Engineering and Innovation Projects from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2008).His research as concentrates on two main areas:
Analysis of Regional/National Innovation Systems
Science and Technology Policies and evaluation

From a more methodological point of view Jon Mikel has applied efficiency and productivity measurement oriented methodologies both in the analysis of innovation systems and in the evaluation of innovation policies, which then are complemented with qualitative oriented methods. He also shows a good experience in the use of R&D and innovation indicators.

During his PhD process, from 2003 to 2008, Jon Mikel has been member of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Management (INGENIO), joint Institute of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). From 2004 to 2008 he was a lecturer of modules about R&D and innovation indicators within innovation systems at the Engineering and Innovation Projects and the Integration of ICT in Firms PhD programs of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, lecturer of Business Project Management to third course Business Administration undergraduate students of the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2008, and trainer of the executive program on technology and innovation management of the manufacturing systems master program of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica in 2008 which whom he is still actively cooperating.
From September to December 2006 he as visiting researcher at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) (Innovation Studies Knowledge Centre - Innovation Policy Research and Impact Assessment of R&D group) in Espoo. Previously he was also teacher at the Department of Industrial Organization of the University of Mondragon from 2002 to 2003.
