It all began with spearheading research on a systemic perspective on innovation and entrepreneurship, and respective policy implications. Since then, the topic of innovation has penetrated research and society in many ways, which led to a broadening of perspectives and disciplines that are bundled at CIRCLE.

Today, we aim to understand and explain how innovation can contribute to a good society and tackle societal challenges, in the context of a changing economic and institutional landscape. To this end, we collaborate and engage with practitioners and policy makers on multiple levels from municipalities and regions to national and international organizations. Our strength in promoting interdisciplinary research allows us to provide relevant insights for societal challenges.

CIRCLE facilitates, coordinates, and initiates innovation research in its community consisting of over 100 members from three faculties at Lund University – the Faculty of Engineering, the Lund School of Economics and Management, and the Social Sciences Faculty, as well as affiliated researchers outside Lund, covering around 30 countries.
