Translating research into policy practice: experiences from transformative innovation policy

Anna Bergek is Professor of Innovation Systems and Technology Policy at the Department of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University of Technology. Her field of research is innovation and transition studies, with a focus on technological and industrial dynamics and innovation policy. In recent years, Anna has devoted part of her time to exploring the emerging “frame” of transformative innovation policy (TIP), with a particular focus on the implications of this new, challenge-driven perspective for systems analysis and impact evaluation. In this seminar, she will discuss some of the challenges involved in “translating” TIP research into policy practice (and vice versa), drawing on current research as well as experiences from interactions with policy practitioners in the STIPP knowledge platform, a course for policy practitioners, an ongoing pilot project on assessment and evaluation of TIP, and the Swedish Platform for System Innovation Research in Interaction (SIRI).
